Frequently Asked Questions
At Elevate Training Camps, we are committed to transparency and making altitude training convenient and accessible. Below, you will find answers to the most common questions we encounter. Have more questions? We are an email or phone call away.

For coaches & trip leaders
How does a team book a block?
It starts with a conversation: your coach or parent organizer tells us the squad size, rough dates, and what your program wants out of the block. A deposit then holds your dates, with one team booking and one invoice. The team agreement, including refund and cancellation terms, comes before any money changes hands, and the roster, medical forms and balance follow ahead of camp.
How much does a camp cost?
Pricing is a team base fee plus a per-athlete rate, so it scales naturally with your roster — one fee for the block, plus a rate for each athlete you bring, with a minimum of eight athletes. The price covers the training program, while lodging and meals are arranged by the team, which keeps costs transparent and the trip yours. Current rates for the three-week block and the one-week camp are on the Registration page.
Do I have to travel with my team?
The trip is led by the team's adults. Usually that is the coach, but parent-organized trips are a great way to run a block when a coach cannot give up the summer weeks. The one constant is adult coverage: every team brings accompanying adults who hold housing and overnight supervision for the whole block, and that is written into the team agreement.
Will Elevate replace my coaching?
Not at all, and that is by design. Your program stays yours. We run the training environment, the routes, the education blocks and the introductions we can make, all built around the plan your coaching staff already writes. Everything we offer is meant to add to what a coach gives their athletes.
What services do Elevate Training Camps provide?
We provide the training program: coached daily sessions on Flagstaff's trail network, route planning, education blocks, and the day-to-day structure of camp. For housing and transportation, we give each team a vetted shortlist of local options and the team's own adults hold those bookings. We also share our favorite training and recovery spots in and around Flagstaff, so your squad settles in fast.

What does the recruiting evaluation include?
Every athlete leaves a block with a written assessment: an honest read on the level they can realistically compete at, two or three development priorities that would move it, and what we observed about how they respond to sustained training. It comes with camp for every athlete on the squad, never as an upsell. And because outcomes belong to the athlete, we never promise roster spots or scholarships.
My athlete isn't a state qualifier. Is camp still for them?
Absolutely. Camps are booked by teams, so if your team is coming, your athlete belongs here. A summer altitude block builds aerobic base during the biggest training weeks of the year, and that work pays off at every level. The evaluation at the end is honest about where an athlete really stands, which is just as valuable for a strong senior season as it is for a Division I hopeful.
Who can participate in Elevate Training Camps?
Our camps are built for high school cross country and distance teams traveling as a squad, booked by a coach or a parent organizer, with a minimum of eight athletes and the team's own adults along for the whole trip. A summer block builds aerobic base during the biggest training weeks of the year, and that foundation is the honest promise we make.
03 · Logistics & housing
Logistics & housing
What's included in the price, and what isn't?
The price includes coached daily sessions on Flagstaff's trail network, midday education blocks, access to professional and collegiate athletes and staff, the written evaluation for every camper, and the logistics on the ground. Lodging, meals and travel stay with the team: you book housing from a vetted shortlist we provide, and the team's own adults hold those reservations and overnight supervision.
When do camps run?
The first season runs in summer 2027, in the June and July window when altitude does the most good during the biggest training weeks of the year. Teams choose between the one-week camp and the three-week block, and dates are set with each team when the block is booked. Get in touch and we will talk through the weeks that fit your season.
Where is the camp located?
Elevate runs in Flagstaff, Arizona, at about 7,000 feet. That puts training right in the 2,000 to 2,500 meter range distance runners look for, on one of the best trail networks in the country. Teams stay with local housing partners: we provide a shortlist of options and the team books the one that fits.
04 · Safety & weather
Safety & weather
What happens if there's wildfire smoke?
This is the mountain West in summer, so we plan for smoke rather than hope it away. We publish air-quality thresholds and training alternatives, adjust sessions instead of running athletes through bad air, and put refund and cancellation terms in the team agreement your trip leader receives before any deposit.
What safety standards does every session run to?
The same standard applies on day one and day twenty-one. No adult is ever alone with a minor, and every staff member is background screened. Arrival load eases in over the first days at altitude. We ask every athlete to have ferritin checked before traveling. And every route has an emergency plan, with certified wilderness first aid on session. These are the commitments we run to.
